Alice in Wonderland in Stained Glass - Master Class

April 5-8, 2024 | 9 am - 4 pm

If you are new to stained glass or a seasoned professional this class will appeal to you. Techniques learned and practiced in class include painting, air-brushing, penning and silk-screening using a pre-made silk screen Joseph will bring to class. Pre mixed enamels are applied to stained glass, then fired in a kiln. Day four we will copper foil and solder the pieces together to make a finished stained glass panel about 14 inches square. Image can be based on Alice in Wonderland or any other favorite subject. No need to be a professional painter, as we will be tracing images. Framing, lighting will be discussed in class, along with an inspiring lecture on marketing your work and advice on art residencies.

Joseph Cavalieri is an artist and educator living in New York City. During the last ten years Joseph has taught over sixty stained glass classes in domestic and international locations. He has attended fourteen art residencies, has exhibited internationally, and has produced many private and public art commissions including a MTA Arts for Transit public art installation at the Philipse Manor Station, NY.

Skill level: Perfect beginners and students that know the Tiffany Technique, and want to expand their knowledge further.

Students should bring inspirational resources such as sketches or found images. Design can be based on a favorite fable, book, movie or themes of past work students would like to continue in glass.
