Intermediate Fusing II - Cutting Thin Strips
Instructor Donna Kearney
Go from theory to practice in this 4-hour Intermediate Fusing Project Class. Each quarter we will feature a different intermediate technique to help you expand your knowledge of kiln formed glass. Students will complete a project related to the technique that will be fired and available for pick up at a future date.
Learn techniques to cut strips as thin as ¼” wide and make a beautiful decorative platter or low bowl featuring iridized Bullesye glass. Iridized glass has a unique set of properties that will be explored, including how to create a strong or muted shine, the effect of high temperatures and special care to maintain this glass’ unique sheen when both in the kiln and coldworked. Topics including design, color selection, reflected and transmitted light, the potential reactions in Bullseye glass and firing schedules will be covered.
Pieces will be fired and slumped after class, and available for pick up at a later date.
Fusing Fundamentals or previous glass fusing experience required.
