Overcoming Amazing In Your Glass Artwork
As a glass business owner it is easy for you to get caught up in the notion of “amazing”. Don’t get me wrong, as an artist the quality, uniqueness, and beauty of your artwork is the foundation on which you need to build your business. However, not everything or every piece will be amazing.
You will have amazing glass pieces and those that are so-so. You will have marketing campaigns that drive tons of buyers to your door and others that will flop. That’s okay. It’s an acceptable and necessary part of being in business for yourself.
In order for your business to grow, you need to get outside your comfort zone and try new things. Not everything will be portfolio worthy, or marketing dollars well spent, but that’s they only way you learn and improve. Trial by fire; sink or swim.
Out of great failure can come great success. Be willing to take risks and learn from the outcomes.

If you set your bar at “amazing,” it’s awfully difficult to start.
Your first paragraph, sketch, formula, sample or concept isn’t going to be amazing. Your tenth one might not be either.
Confronted with the gap between your vision of perfect and the reality of what you’ve created, the easiest path is no path. Shrug. Admit defeat. Hit delete.
One more reason to follow someone else and wait for instructions.
Of course, the only path to amazing runs directly through not-yet-amazing. But not-yet-amazing is a great place to start, because that’s where you are. For now.
There’s a big difference between not settling and not starting.
Don’t wait for prefect. Jump in, get started, and the “amazing” will follow.
