Founders Day

Today we honor our founder Ed Hoy, on what would have been his 100th birthday.

He was the founder of Ed Hoy’s International, originally of Naperville and now located in Warrenville. He grew up in Chicago’s Belmont-Cragin neighborhood and worked in photography. Ed enlisted in the Army and proudly served during World War II in the European Theater.

After a successful career in photography, Ed opened a small shop in a historic building in downtown Naperville. The shop featured a few of his hobbies, including stained glass. The craft proved popular and soon outgrew the quaint old building. The business outgrew three more buildings in industrial sites in Naperville before moving to its present location, a 75,000-square-foot facility in Warrenville.

Ed Hoy was a World War II veteran, entrepreneur, rose gardener, father of five and mentor to many, but mostly he had the uncanny ability to brighten the day of anyone he met, hugged or greeted. We miss him every day.
